The American Mountain Guides Association is the only organization within the United States that trains and certifies mountain guides. Please check out their site for more info on courses, exams and guides in your local area.
The Certified Guides Federation is a non-profit guide’s cooperative supporting AMGA and IFMGA certified guides by providing access and insurance in the United States.
SNOW & AVALANCHE
The American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) provides the best training and courses for backcountry travelers in the U.S. This is a must have if you wish to rip the pow-pow safely!
COLORADO AVALANCHE INFORMATION CENTER
The CAIC is a great place to check out current conditions before heading out into the backcountry. A very useful link in combination with an AIARE course!
